Cellphone sets, cash looted on CU campus

Unidentified snatchers took away four cellphone sets and cash from four people on Chittagong University (CU) campus yesterday afternoon.
Sources said Hussain Ahmed, a third year student of Communication and Journalism department, went to Jharnar Par near the Arts Faculty along with two of his relatives at around 1:30pm.
Three snatchers clad in Lungi intercepted them and took away three cellphone sets and cash. The snatchers decamped the scene injuring Hussain with a sharp weapon when he tried to resist them.
Hussain was taken to CU Medical Centre and were released after receiving first aid, said the sources.
In another incident, a snatcher attacked Tasmin Towhid, also a student of the Journalism department, at Gool Pukur Par on the campus at 1:30pm while she was returning to her South Campus residence.
The snatcher made away with her cellphone and bag.
When contacted, CU Proctor Prof Jasim Uddin confirmed the incidents and said they were trying to trace out the criminals.
