Dilapidated C'nawabganj road remain unrepaired
With large potholes and cracks, about 300-metre area of a busy road in Chapainawabganj town remains a nuisance for thousands of people.
Loaded trucks, passenger buses and other vehicles often get stuck in large potholes on the road from old bus stand to outer signal of the town.
The road connects Naogaon district and Nachole and Gomostapur upazilas with Chapainawabganj town.
Huge pressure of traffic, storage of rainwater and lack of proper maintenance by the authorities concerned are responsible for the awful condition of the busy road, said a few locals.
Regular passengers from the bus terminal suffer a lot while patients are the worst sufferers.
Local traders also face problem in carrying goods in rickshaw vans through the road.
Potholes started developing on the road shortly after its construction two and a half years ago as there were irregularities during the work, locals said.
When contacted, Chapainawabganj LGED Executive Engineer Safiul Alam said, “LGED made the road with special allotment from the then BNP lawmaker from Chapainawabganj-3 constituency. But we are not responsible for any road in a municipality area.”
On the other hand, Chapainawabganj municipality Executive Engineer Sadequl Islam said they have no responsibility of the road as the LGED constructed it.
