Murder case accused held with pistol

An accused in the case for killing cable TV operator Farhad Hossain was arrested from Jamtola Keranipara area in the city on Friday.

Police also recovered a firearm and ammunition from his possession.

The arrestee, Rabiul Islam alias Khatibar Rahman, 22, is an accused in several other cases filed with Rangpur Kotwali Police Station, said Md Abdul Qader Jilani, officer in-charge (OC) of the police station.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of the law enforcers conducted a drive at Rabiul's house in the area and arrested him around 6:00pm.

According to his confession, police recovered a 9mm pistol, one magazine and a bullet from his bedroom.

Farhad Hossain, a cable TV operator in Munshipara area in the city, was murdered by a gang on July 8 in 2014, the OC added.
