Logs being burnt in specially made earthen furnace to produce charcoal in Siddhipasha village of Jashore’s Abhaynagar upazila. This charcoal would be used mainly in local brick kilns. This is causing serious damage to the environment as lots of trees are felled in the village and its adjoining areas for the charcoal production. The smoke from the furnace is also polluting the air.
