WHO CARES ABOUT FITNESS?

It's a wonder that this vehicle, which appears to have come out of a post apocalyptic movie set, still can run on the street and carry people from Mirpur-14 to Manikdi in the capital. Such rundown human hauliers are often seen on the city roads but the authorities appear not to be noticing them. Dhaka Marathon

Participants of the Dhaka Half Marathon set off from the starting point of the competition, at Hatijheel's Police Plaza in the capital yesterday. Runners' group Dhaka Run Lords organised the event in cooperation with Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation, where some 1,200 people took part. Winners and finishers in two categories -- 21.1km half marathon and 7km mini marathon -- were handed prizes and medals after the event. Photo: Collected

Long tailback

Around 25km tailback was created on Dhaka-Chattogram and Dhaka-Sylhet highways yesterday. The situation was caused by a lot of people heading towards their village homes to enjoy a long weekend.
