Such rundown human hauliers are often seen on the city roads but the authorities appear not to be noticing them. Participants of the Dhaka Half Marathon set off from the starting point of the competition, at Hatijheel's Police Plaza in the capital yesterday. Runners' group Dhaka Run Lords organised the event in cooperation with Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation, where some 1,200 people took part. Around 25km tailback was created on Dhaka-Chattogram and Dhaka-Sylhet highways yesterday. The situation was caused by a lot of people heading towards their village homes to enjoy a long weekend.
