drainage work

Dhaka South City Corporation broke and dug up a portion of the road for drainage work on KM Das Lane in Old Dhaka around four months ago, and seems to have forgotten about it. With the debris piled on the street, the narrow road has got even narrower. Who knows when this will be fixed. The photo was taken yesterday. Photo: Anisur Rahman

Instead of using the footbridge to cross the road, a woman rather chooses a dangerous and laborious way -- she first negotiates her way through a stream of moving vehicles, and then takes the trouble of climbing up on the base of the over-bridge's pillar through barbed wires. Lack of a sense of safety is often the cause of fatal accidents which claim the lives of pedestrians. The photo was taken on Kazi Nazrul Islam Avenue on Thursday. Photo: Prabir Das
