Pahela Baishakh celebrations

Bengal Foundation's Pahela Baishakh celebrations ended at the capital's Bengal Boi yesterday, after four-days of music and good vibes. The programmes included a wide range of musical performances, from a group classical sarod recital by Bengal Parampara Sangeetalay students, songs by Sharmin Sathi Islam and Halima Parvin and Bhajan Baul, recitation by Hasan Arif, a concert by Joler Gaan and authentic folk music performance by bauls coming all the way from Faridpur.
The Bangladesh Embassy in Kathmandu organised a Baishakhi fair at its Chancery premises on April 14 to celebrate the Bangla New Year 1425 in a joyous manner. The day's festivities included a Pitha festival, a cultural programme, traditional games. Bangladeshi ambassador to Nepal Mashfee Binte Shams distributed prizes among the winners. The programmes ended with a mini Bangladesh food festival showcasing typical Bangladeshi cuisine.
Noted Tagore singer Shama Rahman performs in a solo musical soiree, held at Kabi Sufia Kamal auditorium of Bangladesh National Museum (BNM) on April 13. BNM organised the programme marking Chaitra Sangkranti 1424 and Pahela Baishakh 1425.
