Muhith first envoy to Denmark
The government has decided to appoint Muhammad Abdul Muhith, currently serving as deputy chief of mission and minister in Bangladesh embassy in Washington DC, as the first ever Bangladesh ambassador to Denmark.
Meanwhile, Md Shahab Ullah, secretary to the government and currently placed under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on deputation, will be the next Bangladesh ambassador to Vietnam.
Muhammad Abdul Muhith, belongs to the 11th batch of BCS (Foreign Affairs) cadre, according to a foreign ministry press release.
In his diplomatic career, he has also served at Bangladesh missions in Kuwait, Qatar, and Italy, and Bangladesh Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York in different capacities.
Muhith obtained his master's in sociology from Dhaka University. With the new mission in Copenhagen, the number of missions came to 70 in 54 countries, official sources said.
The government has already opened its first-ever resident diplomatic mission in Vienna, while the other mission in Warsaw, the capital of Poland, is on the offing.
On the other hand, Shahab Ullah, in his long career, served as the chairman of Bangladesh Tariff Commission and as a member of the Planning Commission.
Besides, Shahab Ullah also worked in the cabinet, Export Promotion Bureau, and the civil aviation and tourism ministry in different capacities.
