Abducted schoolgirl rescued

Police rescued an abducted schoolgirl from Puraton Satkhira area in the town on Thursday evening.
Acting on a tip-off, Kalaroa police rescued the girl from a house in the area but could not arrest the culprits.
Quoting locals, police said a gang of miscreants led by Hasanuzzaman, 26, of village Jhhikra in Kalaroa upazila, had abducted the girl, a class seven student of Kalaroa Pilot Girls' High School, from near her home on her way to a neighbour's house on November 7.
The victim's father filed a case with Kalaroa police accusing five people, including Hasan.

Two Shibir leaders arrested

Two Islami Chhatra Shibir (ICS) leaders were arrested by police from Baitus Sharaf Mosque in Dhoniala Para area of Chittagong city yesterday in two cases filed for attacks on police.
The arrested are Delwar Hossain, 28, president of ICS Chittagong Metropolitan South unit, and Md Ismail, 23, its media and publication secretary.
On September 19, Jamaat activists attacked police at Muradpur intersection, seriously injuring three law enforcers including Assistant Commissioner of Chittagong Metropolitan Police Abdul Mannan. The following day, police was again attacked at Double Mooring area.
