Death of lineman: 4 Palli Bidyut officials suspended in Kushtia

Four officials of Kushtia Palli Bidyut Samiti were suspended over the death of a lineman, who died of electrocution while working on an electric pole.

General Manager (GM) of Kushtia Palli Bidyut Samiti, Engineer Sohrab Ali Biswas, confirmed the matter this morning, reports our Kushtia correspondent.

The suspended officials are Deputy General Manager (DGM) Enamul Haque, Assistant General Manager (AGM) Mohidul Islam Mehedi, Junior Engineer Ariful Islam and Lineman Monir Hossain.

Lineman Dilu Mia died of electrocution in Kushtia's Mirpur upazila on Thursday afternoon.

A three-member probe committee was formed with DGM (Technical) Ranjan Kumar Ghosh of Kushtia Palli Bidyut Samiti as its chief.

The four officials were suspended based on the primary investigation conducted by the committee.

Dilu Mia of Baulchara Masterpara village in Ishwardi upazila of Pabna was working as a lineman in the zonal office of Mirpur Palli Bidyut.

An unnatural death case was filed with Mirpur Police Station regarding the incident.

Sohrab Ali Biswas said the incident is being investigated. It may take two to four days to get the full report, he said.
