Khaleda can go home anytime: PM

A day after cordoning off Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan office by police, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today said the BNP chief has not been confined to her office.
“She can go to her residence anytime she wants,” the premier said while addressing a view-exchange meeting with Bangladesh Chhatra League leaders on the occasion of its 67th founding anniversary at her Gono Bhaban residence this evening.
She said the BNP-led 20-party alliance’s government to topple the movement would never get momentum as they had indulged in politics of killing, vandalism and arson to foil the January 5 general election.
The premier accused Khaleda for the pre-election violence saying: “The incidents of killing, arson and vandalism happened across the country before January 5 general at the directives of the BNP chairperson.”
The law enforcers last night cordoned off Khaleda' Gulshan office and barred her from coming out.
Since then, the BNP chief has been staying at her office.
Though reporters were allowed to enter the office in the afternoon, they have been barred from getting there after 7:00pm, reports our correspondent on the spot.
