Indian held with 3kgs of gold at Shahjalal

Customs authorities today detained an Indian national with three kilogrammes gold worth around Tk 1.5 crore at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.

Detainee Mahesh Kumar Gopal Das, 46, was caught upon suspicion after he landed at the airport at 11:00am on a Fly Dubai flight, said Kazi Md Ziauddin, joint commissioner of customs.

“The Indian national had two golden rods hidden in two of his luggage,” he said. “The approximate market price of the gold is around Tk 1.5 crore.”
