Football fans, angered by the power outage during the second semi-finals between Argentina and the Netherlands in the early hours yesterday, vandalised the zonal office of Kasba Palli Bidyut Samity office.
Sources said, over one hundred football fans from different areas of the upazila headquarters gathered in Kuti area, near the Comilla-Sylhet highway around 11:00am and attacked the Zonal Office of Palli Bidyut Samity and pelted brickbats on the windows of the office.
The angry mob broke the widow glasses and ransacked several furniture of the office.
Being informed, a team of police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
Mizanur Rahman, officer in-charge of Kasba Police Station, said sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the attackers fled the scene.
