'Pahela Baishakh' doesn't belong to any religion: Chanchal Chowdhury
Renowned actor Chanchal Chowdhury has spoken up against the legal notice sent by a lawyer to stop 'Mongol Shobhajatra'.
The actor posted a status on his Facebook account, where he specified that Pahela Baishakh is not really a celebration for a specific religion, rather it's a Bengali tradition.
"Pahela Baishakh doesn't belong to any religion. It's part of our Bengali culture and people from all classes and religions can take part in 'Mongol Shobhajatra'," read his post.
The "Hawa" actor stated that all of us should unite together, as the word 'Mongol' means 'well-being' for Bangalees.
"Anybody is free to participate in the 'Mongol Shobhajatra'. However, opposition to this festival is highly deplorable," concluded Chanchal.
