'Bodyguard' director Siddique no more

Popular Malayalam filmmaker Siddiqie passed away after reportedly suffering from a heart attack. The director was hospitalised on September, 7 and was taken to Kochi hospital in a serious condition after a massive heart attack. He was only 69 at the time of his passing.
Siddique's condition reportedly worsened following a cardiac attack, and he was placed on ECMO (Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation). According to reports, he was also being treated for liver ailments and pneumonia. According to reports, he was placed on ventilator support.
Dulquer Salman posted an emotional note on his passing away on his Facebook.
"The gentlest soul. The kindest human. A gifted writer/director. The most incredible humor hiding behind his soft demeanour. He gave us some of the most iconic films. Part of our pop culture and referred to in our everyday conversations. This is an immeasurable loss. Prayers and strength to Siddique Sirs family and loved ones," read his post.
According to The Indian Express, the late director's funeral will take place today at 6 pm in Kochi.
He is survived by his wife, Sajitha and their three children, Sumaya, Sara, and Sukoon.
Siddique debuted in Malayalam movies as an assistant director alongside his friend Lal. In 1983, they worked with renowned filmmaker Fazil.
As the 'Siddique-Lal' duo, they made their directorial debut with the classic comedy "Ramji Rao Speaking" (1989), which was funded by Fazil. This sparked a string of historic triumphs in Malayalam cinema, including "Harihar Nagar" (1990), "Godfather" (1991), "Vietnam Colony" (1992), "Kabooliwala" (1993), and "Hitler" (1996).
Siddique Ismail's sole directing credits include "Hitler," "Friends","Chronic Bachelor," and "Bodyguard." He directed the Hindi adaptation of "Bodyguard," which starred Salman Khan. The Tamil adaptation, helmed by Siddique as well, was titled "Kavalan" and featured Vijay in the lead role.
