Dhaka attack: ‘Japan strengthening cooperation to fight such incident’
Japan will reinforce cooperation with the international community to ensure that incidents such as that of Friday’s Dhaka cafe attack never occurs again.
The country will also take all possible measures to ensure the safety of Japanese nationals overseas, by leveraging the full capacity of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and overseas diplomatic missions.
Foreign Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida stated this while speaking at a press conference in Tokyo last evening.
Kishida said the United Nations Security Council has issued a press statement strongly condemning the incident. “Not only Japan, but the whole world has expressed indignation and sorrow over this incident,” he added.
The Japanese foreign minister said State Minister for Foreign Affairs Seiji Kihara, who is now in Bangladesh, is exerting maximum efforts to gather information and confirm the facts and ensuring the swift return of the victims to Japan.
A militant attack at the Holey Artisan Baker brutally killed 28 people including seven Japanese citizens on Friday.
