The investigation committee formed over killings of election officers and workers in Rangamati’s Baghaichhari upazila went to the scene this morning.

Our local correspondent reports, the seven-member body led by Additional Secretary Dipak Chakrabarty was at the scene around 11:30am.

They will talk to the family members of the victims and collect evidence, said, Abul Manjur Manju, officer-in-charge of Baghaichhari Police Station.

The probe team has been asked to submit a report within 10 days.

They are expected to brief media later today.

Seven people, including two polling officials and four Ansar men, were shot dead in Baghaichhari on Monday during the second phase of upazila polls.

Police last night filed a case against 40 to 50 unidentified assailants with Rangamati's Baghaichhari Police Station in connection with the killings.
