PM returns home

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina returned home yesterday from Italy after making a stopover in the UAE capital of Abu Dhabi.

An Etihad Airways flight carrying the PM landed at Shahjalal International Airport around 8:15pm.

Earlier, Sheikh Hasina left Abu Dhabi around 1:35pm. Bangladesh Ambassador to the UAE Mohammad Imran and senior officials saw her off at the airport.

She went to the UAE on Thursday morning by an Etihad Airways flight from Rome concluding her four-day official visit to Italy and Vatican City.

In Italy, she attended the annual governing council meeting of the International Fund for Agricultural Development at the invitation of IFAD President Gilbert F Houngbo.

At the invitation of Pope Francis, Hasina also visited the Holy See (Vatican City) and held meetings with the Pope and Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin.
