No IS existence in Bangladesh: Shahriar

State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam today said that there is no organisational existence of Islamic State (IS) or other international terrorist outfits in Bangladesh.

His remarks came a day into Inspector General of Police AKM Shahidul Hoque dismissed an international security expert's statement that IS carried out the Gulshan café attack on July 1 last year.

There is no existence of Islamic State and other international terrorist outfits, he said while addressing the closing day of an international conference organised by Interpol and Bangladesh Police in Dhaka.

The terror attacks that took place in the country were conducted by the homegrown militant outfits, he said adding that there is no evidence that they had link with any international terrorist outfit.
