Three houses vandalised in Sunamganj, 4 injured

At least four people were injured as a land grabber attacked three Hindu families at Rawli village in Chhatak upazila of Sunamganj district early yesterday.

Three houses were also vandalised and looted during the incident, said locals.

Injured Charitra Sarkar, 45, Profulla Sarkar, 21, Rekha Sarkar, 23, and Bisakha Sarkar, 35, of the village were admitted to the upazila health complex.

A gang of 10 allegedly led by one Mostab Ali, son of late Ustar Ali of the village, attacked the houses of Charitra Sarkar, Kolindra Sarkar and Lali Sarkar at around 4:00am to oust them and grab their 52 decimals of land, said police.

They also stabbed the four, leaving them injured as they tried to resist the attackers, said Amrit Deb, sub-inspector of Chhatak Police Station.

The gang then vandalised and looted the houses, said the SI.

Charitra filed a case, accusing Mostab Ali in this connection, said Harun-ur-Rashid, officer-in-charge of the police station.

Meanwhile, three people were injured in an attack by criminals over a piece of disputed land at Kalibari village in Assassuni upazila of Satkhira district on Saturday, reports UNB.

The injured are Dulal Mandol, Poritosh Mandol and Saraswati Mandol of the village.

Witnesses said a gang of 10/12 equipped with sharp weapons attacked the three and torched their house at night.

Azmal Huda, officer-in-charge of Assassuni Police Station, confirmed the incident.
