6 of a family among 11 killed in separate road accidents in Faridpur; 11 others injured
Eleven people were killed, including six members of a family, and 11 others injured in two separate road accidents on the Dhaka-Khulna highway in Faridpur today.
In the first incident, a microbus collided head-on with a truck in Majkandi area under Madhukhali upazila around 7:30am, leaving two people dead on the spot, reports our Faridpur correspondent quoting Md Kowsar Hossain, sub-inspector of Karimpur Highway Police Station.
The family members killed in the road accident are Miajan Bibi (68), her sister Amena Begum (48), daughter in-law Kuti Bibi (42), daughter Mariam Begum (25), son-in-law Jewel Rana (32) and Muzahid, their four-month-old son. All were residents of Bhurab village, said SI Kowsar.
The three other deceased were identified as Md Abbas Uddin (50), Al-Amin (30) and Md Nazrul Islam (60).
Eighteen people who were injured were taken to Faridpur Medical College Hospital, where four were declared dead on arrival while three died during treatment, the police official said.
The total number of injuries, apart from the deaths, in the Majkandi road accident was 11, the SI said.
In another accident at Atadi in Bhanga upazila around 2:30am, a young man and woman were killed in a collision between a microbus and a motorcycle.
The deceased were identified as Shakil Khan (21) and Rani Fakir (22) of Hogladangi Sadardi area under Bhanga upazila.
Quoting locals, Omar Faruq, officer-in-charge of Bhanga Highway Police Station, confirmed that two motorcyclists died in the road accident.
On information, police recovered the bodies and also seized the microbus.
