Most corona patients recover from home
Most coronavirus patients in the district have successfully recovered from the disease after basic treatment at home.
Moulvibazar Civil Surgeon Dr Touhid Ahmed said as of Friday, 522 people in the district have been infected with Covid-19. Of the coronavirus patients, 243 have recovered after basic treatment at home and 231 are being treated in home isolation under the supervision of doctors. Meanwhile, of the total number of patients, only 21 have recovered after treatment at different hospitals while 22 are receiving treatment at the hospitals. Five coronavirus patients have died here till the date.
AKM Jaber, 35, a health care provider of Ghagtia community clinic in Kulaura upazila, who has recently recovered from the disease, said he was treated in home isolation under the supervision of the upazila health and family planning officer. After being diagnosed with the virus, he took a drink of ginger tea and warm water at least five times a day every day. He also took medicine and fruits regularly.
Another Covid-19 patient Sadek Hossain, 30, a banker from Laghati village in Baralekha upazila, who also recovered from the disease, said he tested positive for coronavirus on May 23. He was treated in home isolation for 28 days.
"I took basic treatment at home following the doctor's advice. I did not need to take any medicine. Every day I took a lot of Vitamin C-rich fruits besides drinking tea and warm water during the time. Finally I've recovered from the disease after the primary treatment," said the banker.
According to the Kamalganj and Rajnagar upazila health complexes, a man of Rajnagar upazila died from coronavirus-like symptoms on April 4. He was the first man who died from coronavirus-like symptoms in the district. A few days after the incident, another tea worker with coronavirus-like symptoms died in Kamalganj upazila. Later, samples of the deceased were collected to be tested for coronavirus infection and they were found positive.
Since then, a number of people from different professions like doctors, health workers and police have tested positive for coronavirus, said the civil surgeon.
In some cases, the health workers visit home and observe the patient's condition, said Dr Nurul Haque, Kulaura upazila health and family planning officer.
He further said 98 people in Kulaura upazila have been diagnosed with the virus as of Wednesday. Of them, 60 Covid-19 patients have recovered after basic treatment at home while the rest are being treated in home isolation.
They are giving treatment to those Covid-19 patients over phone, said Dr Nurul Haque.
Civil Surgeon Dr Touhid Ahmed said a committee has been formed in each upazila of the district to fight coronavirus. The Covid-19 patients are being treated under the supervision of the committee.
Most Covid-19 patients in Moulvibazar have successfully recovered from the disease after primary treatment at home, said the civil surgeon.
