Graft: Pro-AL leaders in CBA allege harassment

Pro-ruling party leaders in Biman’s Collective Bargaining Agency (CBA) today alleged that they are being harassed in the name of graft investigation.

They alleged, such “ill-attempt” of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is underway to “protect” the corrupted brasses of Biman Bangladesh Airlines.

“ACC gave clean chit to CBA leaders and closed their graft probe,” said Biman Sramik League President Moshiqur Rahman today in a press conference.

“They did not find evidence of corruption or illegally amassed wealth against the Biman CBA leaders,” Moshiqur, also the president of Biman’s CBA, said.

“Now, after 15 days, names of Biman’s CBA leaders have been sent to the ACC on charge of graft and irregularities with an ill intention,” he alleged.

“There are 6,000 officials and staffs work in Biman. Why Biman Sramik League leaders are being harassed repeatedly without specific allegations,” he questioned.

He said, media reports have surfaced on corruption in leasing Biman aircraft, engineering, overhauling and maintenance and ticket selling department.

“That’s why efforts are going on to divert people’s attention,” he said adding; “We want to cooperate the ACC so that it can drive out corruption and find out big fishes of Biman.”

He was addressing a press conference at Biman’s head office at city’s Kurmitola.

ACC on May 2 urged the Special Branch of Police to take steps to prevent recently removed managing director of Biman Bangladesh Airlines AM Mosaddique Ahmed and nine others from leaving the country.

The nine others are President of Biman Sramik League and Junior Ground Service Officer of Biman Mushikur Rahman, Ground Service Supervisors GM Zakir Hossain, Mizanur Rahman and AKM Masum Billah, Commercial Supervisors Rafiqul Alam and Golam Kaysar Ahmed, Junior Commercial Officer Maruf Mehedi Hasan and Commercial Officers Jawed Tarik Khan and Mafuzur Karim Siddique.
