Renowned theatre personality Mamunur Rashid today demanded immediate resignation of Buet vice chancellor shouldering the responsibility of Abrar Fahad killing.
“The Buet Vice Chancellor is an irresponsible person. He either should resign from his post or the government should force him to do so,” Mamunur Rashid said after extending solidarity to the protest of Buet students.
Over 400 students of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) have been staging demonstration on the campus for the second consecutive day today to meet their seven-point demand including the capital punishment of the killers of Abrar.
After extending solidarity with their demands, Mamunur Rashid said, “Democracy is the culmination of the dissident and multi-dimensional opinions. In this context, Abrar murder is tantamount to killing democracy.”
Referring troublesome situations of different universities, Mamun said student protests are going on against many vice chancellors across the country demanding their stepdown but they are not putting any heeds to the students’ demand.
“Their skin is so thick that they can’t perceive the students’ demand,” the theatre personality said.
