3 die in under-construction septic tank in Bhola
Three people died at an under-construction septic tank of a school in Jajumuddin upazila of Bhola yesterday.
Two workers went down in the under-construction septic tank of South West Chachra Government Primary School to remove bamboo pillars of the tank around 12noon, locals said.
They started screaming as soon as they got into the septic tank and hearing their shouting, another man jumped into the septic tank to rescue them said Riazuddin Hananan, chairman of Chachra Union Parishad.
Later, locals rescued them and took them to the upazila health complex where the doctors declared them dead, the chairman told our local correspondent.
The deceased were identified as Rakib, 35, Saddam Hussein, 30, and Alauddin, 35.
The chairman said the trio might have died inhaling poisonous gas in the septic tank.
Pallab Kumar Hazra, Tajumuddin upazila nirbahi officer, said he formed an investigation committee in connection with the incident. The reason behind their deaths could be known after getting the investigation report within the next three days, he said.
