Lightning kills 3 in Narsingdi

Three persons were killed and seven others injured when lightning struck a boat in the Meghna river in Nolbata area of Narsingdi Sadar upazila in this evening.

The deceased are identified as Farida Begum, 45, wife of Delwar Hossain, Rehena Begum, 35, wife of Chand Mia, and Selim Mia, 25, son of Mona Mia of Alokbali village of Narsingdi Sadar upazila, reports our local correspondent.

Additional Police Super of Narsingdi Sadar Circle Shahriar Alam said a boat carrying passengers from Alokbali Char area was going towards Narsingdi town.

Thunderstorms started when they were crossing Nalbata area of the Meghna river leaving one of the victims dead on the spot and nine others injured, he said.

The injured were taken to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital where the two others died.

Later, three of the injured were shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) as their conditions were deteriorating.
