Fake Facebook IDs after PM’s name closed

Total 1332 fake IDs closed

The National Telecommunication Monitoring Centre (NTMC) with the help of Facebook authority has recently closed around 1332 fake IDs.

A total of 1332 fake Facebook IDs including 752 which were operating after the name of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina until January 27, this year, have been closed, Brig Gen Ziaul Ahsan, director NTMC, told The Daily Star.

An organised vested quarter become proactive in tarnishing image of the country through social media by opening fake Facebook IDs, he said.

They were engaged in dishing out misleading information among the peoples in the social media opening the fake Facebook accounts after the name a person or an organisation to meet their person gain, he added.

Even they were engaged in an evil attempt to spread out propaganda after creating fake Facebook IDs or pages after the name of the prime minister and her family members to tarnish the country’s image, he said.

Apart from this, the NTMC with the help of Facebook authority closed 288 unauthorized pages, 28 groups and 71 provoking posts those have been operating after the name of the Election Commission, Army and Bangladesh Navy, Brig Gen Ziaul Ahsan added.
