Draft of broadcast law up on website for opinion
A draft of the Broadcast Act-2016m, which proposes three-month jail as highest punishment and Tk 5 lakh fine or both for violation of the rules, has been posted on website for public opinions.
A 43-member committee formed by the government formulated the draft in line with the recommendations of the National Broadcasting Policy-2014.
Golam Rahman, a former journalism professor of Dhaka University who is currently serving as chief information commissioner, headed the committee.
The information ministry uploaded the draft on its website (www.moi.gov.bd) to elicit public opinions.
People can give their opinion directly to the information secretary by sending those to the emails of the ministry by May 4.
