Three people of a family including two women were killed and another injured after a passenger bus hit a private car from the rear in Khilkhet area of Dhaka this afternoon.

The deceased were Delwar Hossain Mojumder, 58, his sister Anwara Milon Begum, 45, and her daughter Lovely, 23, Shahidur Rahman, a sub-inspector of the Khilkhet Police Station told The Daily Star.

The driver of the rented car Sabuj who received minor injuries, went home after taking primary treatment at Kurmitola General Hospital, he added.

A Dhaka-bound bus of Ena Paribahan from Uttara hit the private car at bus stand area around 4:30pm. The car collided with another bus at its front. Three passengers of the private car died on the spot.

The victims were coming to Dhaka from Gazipur for medical treatment of Delwar, a retired government official suffering from cardiac complication, the police official added.

Police seized the vehicles but its driver managed to flee the scene.
