BGB man ‘kills himself’ in Jamalpur

A member of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) committed suicide by shooting himself with his gun in Madarganj upazila of Jamalpur this afternoon, police said.

Deceased Mahmudul Hasan, 22, hailing from Habiganj, was deployed in the area ahead of today’s Union Parishad polls, our correspondent reports quoting Rampada Mandol, officer-in-charge of Madarganj Police Station.

After completing duty, Hasan went to a bathroom in their dormitory along with his gun and shot himself around 4:00pm and died on the spot, the OC said.

The reason behind the incident could not be known immediately.

Police recovered his body and sent it to Jamalpur General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
