A Bangladeshi youth is gunned down by the members of Indian Border Security Force (BSF) at Sarialjot Kankata bordering area in Tentulia upazila. This Star file photo shows BSF members patrolling near a border between Bangladesh and India.

Indian Border Security Force (BSF) allegedly gunned down a Bangladeshi youth at Kankata bordering area in Tentulia upazila of Panchagarh this afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Sujan, 22, son of Sanaullah of Premcharanjouth village in the upazila, reports our Thakurgaon correspondent.

Quoting villagers, commanding officer of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB)-18, Lt. Col. Al Hakim Mohammad Nowshad told the correspondent that BSF members opened fire on Sujan near border pillar no. 38/3-S at around 3:45pm.

Later, Sujan was rushed to Tentulia Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

Meanwhile, company commander of Sharialjoth BGB camp sent a proposal to BSF for holding a flag meeting.
