Road, Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today said the decision on implementing the 9th Wage Board Award for newspaper and news agency journalists and employees will be taken by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Quader, who heads the seven-member cabinet committee on implementing the 9th Wage Board, told this to newsmen during a briefing on the contemporary issues at his ministry office at the Secretariat this noon.
“The issue of 9th Wage Board no longer remains a topic of discussion at the cabinet. It now lies with the decision of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,” Quader said.
“The cabinet committee will send its recommendations on implementing the 9th Wage Board as a summary to the PM soon, and after that she will make a decision in this regard,” he said.
Asked when the summary of the cabinet committee’s recommendations will be sent to PM, the minister said it was being prepared. “It might be sent even today or tomorrow,” Quader said.
Replying to another query on when the PM would make her decision on implementing the 9th Wage Board, the minister said he could not make a comment in this regard.
“I can’t say when she would make the decision, but whenever she does, the Wage Board would be implemented immediately,” he said.
