8-year-old schoolboy run over in Sayedabad

An eight-year-old was run over by a private car in South Sayedabad, Dhaka, this afternoon. Relatives claim, it was a vehicle of law enforcers which killed him.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Raj, 8, a third grader at Korotia Government Primary School and son of M Hanif, Anisur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Jatrabari Police Station, told The Daily Star.

The accident took place around 3:00pm when he along with other children was playing, said the OC. Run over, he was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where he was declared dead.

Abdus Salam, paternal uncle of Raj, and other witnesses alleged that a white jeep carrying policemen ran over the boy.

However, OC Anisur Rahman said they could not be sure whether the car was carrying policemen.
