6 Myanmar nationals held with 3 lakh Yaba in Teknaf

Lawmen today detained six Myanmar nationals with three lakh contraband yaba tablets from an engine boat in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar.

On information, Bangladesh Coast Guard intercepted the boat from the sea near Chhera Dwip around 6:00am and seized the yaba tablets, reports our local correspondent.

The boat tried to go back towards Myanmar, but the coast guards chased it down, said Jafar Imam Sajib, contingent commander of Teknaf coast guard station.

Six persons on board the boat, all Myanmar nationals, were detained in this connection, he said. The detainees were: Rahim Ullah, 60, Nozir Ahmed, 65, Enamul Hossain, 16, Md Karim, 17, Md Rafiq, 15, and Md Faruk, 15.

The detainees were handed over to Teknaf Police Station and filing of a case in connection with the yaba haul was underway when last reported.
