DMP Commissioner Shafiqul Islam tests positive for Covid-19

Dhaka Metropolitan Commissioner Md Shafiqul Islam has tested positive for Covid-19, said DMP additional deputy commissioner (media and PR) today.
The DMP Commissioner was admitted to Rajarbagh Central Police Hospital on March 6 as he fell sick. Later, his Covid-19 test report came positive.

Bangladesh is witnessing a surge in Covid-19 cases since the beginning of this month.
Seven people have died from Covid-19 infections in 24 hours (till 8 am today), according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
At least 1,018 new infections were recorded in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 5,53,105, added the release.
