29 districts including Dhaka, Chattogram, Rajshahi with high Covid-19 transmission: DGHS
The Directorate General of Health Services today mentioned 29 districts -- considered "risk areas"-- with higher transmission of Covid-19.
"Considering the level of transmission, local administration will decide whether lockdown is necessary in any certain area or not. The directive is clear -- necessary measures to curb the virus," Dr Nazmul Haque, line director (center for disease control) at the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) told The Daily Star.
The government has banned all kinds of mass gatherings in high risk areas to curb the transmission of coronavirus.
Prof ABM Khurshid Alam, director general of the health directorate, announced this including an 18-point directives on behalf of the Prime Minister's office in a virtual press conference this afternoon.
During the press briefing, DGHS officials also mentioned some of the 29 districts where Covid-19 transmission is higher right now.
Dhaka, Chattogram, Narayanganj, Gazipur, Nilphamari, Rajshahi, Naogaon, Sylhet, Khulna are among the districts with higher transmission of the virus.
