Trial resumes after 6 months
After around six months, trial of Himu murder case resumed in a Chittagong court yesterday.
The court heard a portion of the case statement and the first information report, court sources said.
The prosecution moved a petition seeking hearing of the record of Himu's statement, where he told his friends the names of the accused while he was in a hospital, in public on the next hearing date, they said.
The court fixed October 1 for reading aloud the cross-examinations of the witnesses and their depositions, said Additional Public Prosecutor Anupam Chakraborty. The defense lawyers will start their arguments on the day, he added.
According to the charge sheet, Himu, an A-level student of Summerfield School and College, was tortured at a five-storey building on April 27, 2012. Culprits assaulted Himu, unleashed dogs upon him and then pushed him off the building. Later, Himu died at Square Hospitals in Dhaka on May 23, 2012.
