Six carjackers arrested in capital

Detectives arrested six carjackers from different areas in the capital on Wednesday.

The law enforcers also recovered six stolen cars and four motorcycles, said Abdul Baten, joint commissioner of detective branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, at a press briefing at DMP media centre yesterday.

The arrestees are Shafiqul Islam alisa Ridoy, 35, Abdul Majid, 34, Zubaidul Alam alias Rana, 27, Abdul Hamid alias Uncle, 35, Rashid, 29 and Asaduzzaman Lal alias Laltu, 30.

The criminals sometimes used to ride on cars posing as passengers and take away the vehicles feeding the drivers foodstuffs with sedatives, said Baten adding, several bottles of sedative mixed drink and sedatives tablets were recovered from their possession.
