Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sayeed Khokon today vowed to remove the waste of sacrificial animal within 24 hours from the day of Eid-ul-Azha.
“We had been able to remove the waste of sacrificial animals within 24 hours the last Eid-ul-Azha. We are pledging that we will be able to do to it this year within 24 hours,” Khokon said.
Mayor Sayeed Khokon was speaking at a meeting with the waste management committee members held at Nagar Bhaban in Dhaka.
He also asked the concerned employees of the city corporation to follow his direction to remove animal waste within the hours.
The mayor said a total of 339 places under Dhaka South City Corporation have been fixed for sacrificing animals, where there will have available equipment including water.
He urged the city dwellers to sacrifice their animals in the places designated by the DSCC.
Khokon said if the people are unable to sacrifice their animals in the fixed places, they can do this in their chosen place, but they will have to clean the waste and spread bleaching powder there.
The mayor also urged the city people to call the helpline number – 09611000999 -- for the removal of wastage.
