Technical edu top priority of govt: Rajshahi mayor
The government attaches top priority to technical education aimed at generating skilled human resources, said Rajshahi City Corporation Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton yesterday.
“The government is pledge-bound to take the country forward through substantial and sustainable improvement of technical and vocational education,” he said while addressing an event in the city as chief guest.
Technical Training Centre (TTC) organised the programme to mark the reception of its new students and farewell of SSC (Vocational) students on its premises.
Mayor Liton said technical and vocational education and training among youths are crucial for transforming Bangladesh into a middle-income country.
He also opined that technical education could be an effective means of building competent and skilled human resources. Role of skilled people is also vital for earning more foreign remittance, which is significant for the country’s development, Liton said.
The mayor also described the government’s decision to promote remittance inflow as significant through exporting manpower legally and urged the officials concerned to make people more aware of going to overseas markets through legal ways.
Chaired by TTC principal Abdur Rahim, the function was addressed, among others, by Deputy Commissioner Hamidul Haque, Superintendent of Police Muhammad Shahidullah and Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Tariqul Islam.
