The Embassy of Nepal in Dhaka organised an event titled “Unveiling Visit Nepal Year 2020 Campaign” at the embassy premises on Tuesday, says a press release.
Railways Minister Nurul Islam Sujan was the chief guest, and Kedar Bahadur Adhikari, secretary of Nepal’s Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, was the special guest.
Ambassadors and high commissioners, government officials of Bangladesh, journalists, social workers, and celebrities attended the event.
Three renowned Bangladeshi personalities -- MA Mohit, two times Mt Everest summiteer; singer Mehreen Bhuiyan Mahmud; and actor Zahid Hasan -- were introduced as the campaign’s goodwill ambassadors.
In his remarks, Kedar Bahadur highlighted various aspects of the Nepali tourism sector, particularly the government’s priorities in infrastructure development. Investments in road, railways and airport facilities are expected to be instrumental in the development of Nepali tourism, he said.
He invited all Bangladeshi friends to visit Nepal and experience its beauty and hospitality.
Nurul Islam Sujan expressed his satisfaction on the persisting excellent bilateral relations between the two countries and he further highlighted the need to work together to harness potentials of sectors like tourism, trade, transit and connectivity.
During the ceremony, the embassy organised a photo exhibition providing glimpses of Nepal’s beauty, and offered an opportunity to experience the country through its traditional food and cultural performances.
The embassy also launched a tourism blog (bd.nepalembassy.gov.np/blog) as a platform for the travellers to share their stories and experiences.
