Four members of gang of thieves arrested in Ctg

Four members of a gang, which steals valuables from houses impersonating domestic helps by doping their employers, were arrested in Chittagong city yesterday, said police.

Around 13 tolas of gold was also seized from the possession of Parvin Akther, 32, her husband Shahid, 36, Mofiz, 48, and Rehana, 32. They hail from Bhola.

Mofiz, Parvin and Shahid were held from Bayezid Bostami area and Rehana from Kala Mia Bazar area.

On January 21, Rehana and Parvin stole a total of 10 tolas of gold ornaments from the house of one Ashikur Rahman on MM Ali Road, said Chawkbazar police Officer-in-Charge Aziz Ahmed.

On May 12, they stole three tolas of gold ornaments from the house of a magistrate in Chawkbazar.

During primary interrogation, Parvin confessed to the crime.
