DNCC to spray new insecticide from tomorrow to kill mosquito

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) will start spraying new insecticide in the city areas from tomorrow to kill mosquitoes and destroy its larvae.

“We will use new medicine ‘Malathion’ imported from China instead of previous insecticide ‘adulticide’ and we will use the new one in all wards of the city corporation step by step,” DNCC Mayor Atiqul Islam said in a press briefing at Gulshan’s Nagar Bhaban in the capital today.

He said that as per the result of field test and lab test, the new insecticide is more effective than the previous one to kill mosquitoes and destroy its larvae.

The new insecticide is recognised by World Health Organization and it is used in different countries, he said.

The integrated vector management (IVM) under the DNCC will work round the year to kill Aedes mosquito in a bid to control dengue outbreak, Atiqul added.
