Coronavirus fears: JnU students boycott classes, exams

General students of Jagannath University (JnU) are boycotting classes and examinations for an indefinite period, starting today, in a bid to resist the coronavirus spread.
"We will not attend classes and sit for exams until further notice," said student leader Raisul Islam Nayon, of Department of Marketing.
A total of 112 class representatives came up with the decision following a students' meeting at Victoria Park yesterday afternoon, Nayon said.
"We can't hold classes and examinations if the students don't come. But we are waiting for a decision from the government, to take the next steps," Vice-chancellor Mijanur Rahman said.
A meeting of JnU Teachers' Association is set to be held later in the day, reports our JnU correspondent.
The teachers will express solidarity with the students following the meeting, one of the teachers told our correspondent seeking anonymity.
