Conference on cyber security begins at DIU
A two-day conference on cyber security began at Daffodil International University (DIU) on its permanent campus in Ashulia of Savar yesterday.
Software engineering department of the university organised the second international conference titled "Cyber Security and Computer Science".
National Digital Security Agency Director General Md Rezaul Karim inaugurated the conference as chief guest. Prof Jemal Abawaji of Deakin University, Australia; Prof Mamoun Alazab of Charles Darwin University, Australia; and Prof Oguz FINDIK of Karabuk University, Turkey presented keynote papers at the event.
The inaugural ceremony was also addressed by DIU Vice Chancellor Prof Yousuf M Islam, pro-VC Prof SM Mahabub-Ul-Haque Majumder, and its software engineering department head Prof Touhid Bhuiyan.
The two-day event includes keynote, plenary and technical sessions. A total of 281 papers from 20 countries including the USA, the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, France, Germany, China, the KSA and Malaysia were submitted at the conference, said organisers.
The conference aims to catalyse research collaboration between relevant communities and disciplines that can work together to deepen the understanding and build a firm foundation for the emerging science of cyber security, they said.
The first international conference on cyber security and computer science was hosted by Karabuk University, Turkey in 2018.
National Digital Security Agency DG Rezaul Karim, in his speech, said the government formed the agency as cyber security prevention is one of the main concerns this time.
The government is working to make it a success, he said. But it is not possible only for the government; private institutions have to come forward to help them in this regard, he added.
