The hanging girl to be sent to family

The girl, who was spotted hanging from the veranda of the 11th floor of a building in Kakrail of Dhaka, will be handed over to her family, police said today.
Photos of Khadija, 13, hanging outside the veranda precariously holding the grills went viral on social media yesterday.
On information, police yesterday rescued her from the residence of M Habibur Rahman and Lovely Rahman, where she used to work as a house-help, and sent to victim support centre today, Maruf Hossain Sarder, deputy commissioner (Ramna zone), told The Daily Star.
She has not complained about the family nor disclosed why she was hanging there, the police official said.
Although no case was filed nor the girl complained of any misconduct against her, the law enforcers are conducting an investigation into the incident, said Kazi Mainul Islam, officer-in-charge of Ramna Police Station.
Earlier yesterday, Bangla daily Prothom Alo reported quoting Lovely Rahman that Khadija went out of the veranda’s pocket gate after an altercation with another house-help.
