Govt signs deal for biggest power plant yet

Bangladesh inks an agreement to build the biggest yet power plant capable of producing 3,600MW of electricity.

Bangladesh today inked an agreement to build the biggest yet power plant capable of producing 3,600MW of electricity.

Bangladesh Power Development Board inked the memorandum of understanding, worth US $4.4 billion, with GE Switzerland at Bidyut Bhaban, Dhaka.

The estimated project cost is $4.4 billion and expected completion time is 36 months, said officials of BPDB. The plant will have three units, with 1,200MW each.
