Fire at Nilkhet book market
Fire broke out at the capital's Nilkhet book market this evening. No primary report of casualties was received.
The fire might have originated at a bookstore on the second floor of Islamia Book Market in Nilkhet, said Atiqur Rahman, officer-in-charge of New Market Police Station.
Ten units of firefighters brought the fire under control around 8:45 pm which engulfed the entire structure, fire service officials said.
About 50 shops were damaged in the fire, policemen at the spot said.
