Nasirpur Raid : Families refuse to receive seven bodies
Family members of the seven people killed during a raid of law enforcers on March 29 in Nasirpur refused to receive the bodies after identifying them at Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital yesterday afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Lokman Hossain, 45, from Dangapara of Ghoraghat upazila in Dinajpur; his wife Shirina Akhter, 35, from Kalapara of the same upazila; and their five daughters -- Amena Khatun, 21; Sumaiya, 12; Marium, 10; Fatema, 7; and Khadija, 7 months, said Mohammad Shahjalal, superintendent of police in Moulvibazar, during a press briefing.
Shirina's father Abu Bakar Siddique told this correspondent that his daughter had called him on the phone on the fateful night of March 29 -- three years after staying out of touch.
He said he had to identify the bodies by cross-matching pictures of the bodies, blown apart by explosions, with a family photograph.
After identifying his son-in-law Lokman, he said, “I feel ashamed to admit that he was my son-in-law... I refuse to receive their bodies.”
Lokman's father Nurul Alam said, his son, a madrasa student, was involved with Islami Chhatra Shibir during his student years and he completed Dakhil from Krishnaraipura Madrasa.
