CU Sanskrit students confine dept chairperson
Some 10 Sanskrit students of Chittagong University (CU) kept their chairperson confined to her office room for one and a half hours yesterday for not allowing them to sit in the final examination.
Department sources said seven second-year students did not get permission to attend the final exam as their class attendance percentage was below 30.
The seven along with their three classmates locked the door of their Chairperson Suptikana Majumdar's room around 11:00am.
Later, the proctorial body unlocked the door with the help of police, said CU Proctor (acting) Litan Mitra, adding that they were looking into the matter. “I was very shocked”, said Suptikana, adding that the decision of not allowing the students was taken by the academic committee as per university rules.
She will lodge a complaint against them with the academic committee. Yesterday's exam was postponed due to low presence of students.
